
Centered headlines dominated newspapers for decades, in the seventies (last century) some newspapers have started to experiment with the flush left alignment in headlines.
One of the first paper that applied this trend and transfer it to captions, leads and some other minor elements is the Chicago Daily News.
To make a comment on what type of headlines is better is pointless because it depends entirely on your own taste.
But either way, selection of style that will be used has an impact on the overall impression of the newspaper.
