As iconic player Zlatan Ibrahamovic bows out from international soccer and the Swedish team, Volvo pays tribute to him in an emotive spot out of Forsman & Bondenfors.
The brand, which prior to the Euro 2016 kick-off ran an ad detailing Ibrahamovic’s journey from humble beginnings, now shows him making an emotional road trip across Europe following Sweden’s defeat by Belgium last Wednesday in the tournament. He sets out in the new Volvo V90 with his family, travelling through Paris where he has been based for several years and ending back where it began in the tough Malmo neighbourhood of Rosengard. He ends by hanging up his jersey on the side of the playground where he kicked soccer balls as a child. The ad is accompanied by an original soundtrack by composer Hans Zimmer.
Ibrahamovic is retiring from international soccer but the world hasn’t seen the back of him yet: he is rumoured to be in talks to sign a one year contract with Manchester United. He’s also well on his way to becoming a fashion icon with the launch of his A-Z sportswear brand earlier this month, which was also supported by a Forsman & Bodenfors camapign.
